Yes, finally the oil shortage is coming to an end! The oil shortage was really a bumpy obstacle in people’s life journey that did not just have major impacts on products, businesses, ecosystems, and so forth but made many come to appreciate the availabilities that we have over it today. Personally the oil crisis helped me value the oil we have and how I should use it wisely. The oil crisis showed me that as humans, we highly rely on oil for our every day life and that without it we would greatly have to adapt to a new way of life that may cause us to have a shorter lifetime. I truly cannot imagine what life would be like without oil completely, I mean it was just an oil shortage that we are currently recuperating from and I felt that soon I would go be going crazy. The shortage of fresh meat, vegetables, fruits, and milk really had me worried, for a second I thought we would soon starve to death. This oil crisis made me realize that in order to stop depending on oil so much I have to begin going thinking “green” such as walking from one point to another more often. Instead of having someone drive me to stores that I am able to walk to within 30 minutes I will instead walk to them and save some gas. I have also started planting my own vegetable garden in my back yard and I think it’s great. I know it’ll take some time for my vegetables to grow but soon I will be having the fresh vegetables I need a few steps away. My community needs to start creating a plan, to make a week in every month a try hard to live oil free kind of thing; recycling, reusing, and using public transportation. In order to prevent another oil crisis we have to take care of the oil that we have today. The government needs to contribute as well by creating changes that will lower the amount of oil dependency. One way could be to change the type of transportation that is used in war, instead of using regular transporting vehicles that consist of gas, hybrid or electric cars, and airplanes should instead be created.

In order to decrease my carbon footprint, I need to take action now! For example now I am going to unplug electronics in my house every weekend, recycle, and hitch a ride from my friends when I am able to. I hope that I can resist slipping into old habits and I am pretty sure that I will because after going through this oil crisis, I certainly do not want to experience an oil shortage again. The oil crisis really impacted my life in a way that made me realize the products that I consume daily greatly use oil and were a part of the oil crisis all along. I have now decided to go natural one week every month, meaning that I will unplug most of my house electronics, use public transportation, use fluorescent light bulbs, and reuse plastic products.

Al’s Seafood all the Way restaurant is the best, not only is the food fresh, tasty, well seasoned, and affordable but I constantly make sure my customers are being well accommodated and get the best quality fish served by my staff. I can say that my seafood restaurant is a success, weekends are usually the best, people waiting in line and others are being seated. I make sure my customers get the finest seafood dishes and that they are well cooked, good enough to eat! Just last week, we had a line of people waiting for an hour or so, my staff tried their best to keep everyone accommodated while attending those that were already seated. By the end of the day it all turned out a success, people left with a smile on their faces and returned the next day for more! I like knowing that I’m the owner of such a successful place that others are able to enjoy of. My restaurant is people’s bait and people are the fish eating my bait but due to the oil crisis fish are not biting on my bait. Now a day’s fresh fish and other seafood’s are hard to find because of the contamination the oil crisis has caused. Here at Al’s place I get the best from the best and luckily I have still purchased fresh seafood that has been certified by the Health department but somehow people tend to believe otherwise. They
tend to think that the seafood served here at Al’s place is contaminated which has not just shown a downfall of the amount of costumers but lowered revenues being made. I just don’t know what’s going to happen? What will it be of Al’s place, will I have to close it down? I just have so many questions and no answers. Now I’m thinking on whether buying more fish to sell or whether it will just be a waste of money that I’ll be investing. When will people begin buying again and for how much longer will I be able to purchase fresh fish?

Day after day businesses continue to close, just yesterday a local store by the neighborhood closed because fresh products were no longer available. That was a bummer! Quinceanera and dress businesses in Huntington Park have begun to close down because people are no longer consuming and it’s like OMG because with prom coming up, where will I get my dress! Many have lost their jobs and many have been underemployed as well, take my sister for example. She works at the Huntington Park Chamber of Commerce and she hasn’t lost her job yet but now she works four days a week instead of five. I mean when she worked the whole week she barely made enough to pay her bills and have enough for gas. Now that she is working four days a week she walks to work since it is not as far and tries to stay home during the weekend so she does not waste gas. I think it sucks! We are all being affected by the oil shortage which is why I have begun making healthier and wiser decisions. I have begun buying organic products, walking, riding my bike, or simply taking the bus and metro to get around but sometimes it is exhausting. The weather is not always fresh, the sun is very bright and when I walk or ride my bike I tend to sweat and it’s nasty, especially after a while when I begin to feel all sticky. With the shortage of oil, many are no longer using their cars, causing the few metro transits that are available to be full. It’s such a fuzz at times.
Gas prices seem to rising every week which is why I have begun riding the bus to get to school and come back home. Now I cannot have the luxury of having my mom take and pick me up from school because I feel that I am just making her waste more money on as.
Elasticity is playing an important role in this economic crisis because people are now purchasing substitute products for the original products which are expensive, substitutes are much cheaper and affordable. People are demanding less of the things that they were once able to afford and are trying to find the cheapest products that substitute those others. Now I am not buying coffee from star bucks but instead going to the donut shop for some.

I’m shocked! We get water that is transported all the way from Greenwich, Connecticut, 2476 miles from Los Angeles! The pure and clear water that keeps up hydrated comes a long way. Then there’s bananas which take 2199 miles to get to Los Angeles, think of how much gas is used for trailers. It’s a lot!! I mean bananas are good, their soft, chewy, white, big and small, and always good in a licuado .^_^. but thats a long way where they are brought from. Bananas, water, raisins, Pasta, and many other products come from a long way in where pretty soon these and other fresh products may begin to decrease in quantity due to the oil crisis, making this a big tragedy. Where will I buy and what will I afford with a food shortage? I mean just today I went to La Superior to buy lettuce, tomatoes, ham, cheese, mayonnaise, and bread to make tortas but I was only able to find mayo and bread. The market was far from looking like the usual fresh Superior I would buy groceries and other products from, it looked more like an abandoned store where the products on the shelves were the only ones available. I mean like many others I’m a locavore, I buy food, fruits, vegetables, and other products in stores that are within 100 miles from my house but with products decreasing in stock I'm left to go elsewhere. The local stores that I normally go to: Food 4 Less, La Superior, El Super, etc. have begun to run out of fresh products which leaves me looking for the nearest farmers market by my house. Then I found out of such a thing called frankenfood, which is food that’s been genetically modified, containing all types of chemicals that can cause health problems to a person. For all I know, the foods I've been buying at my local markets could have been frankenfoods. Imagine the type of chemicals I could have in me just now! Searching for a near farmer's market will not just be my only option to find fresh products but it will be a healthier choice too. I’ve just heard of the nearest farmers market located on 7159 Bissell St in Huntington park, Ca. It’s a small farmers market but it’s close enough for me to be able to walk to even if it takes me a while, plus I could also ride the bus there. Bissell St.’s farmer’s market is small but its great, there I am able to find the vegetables and fruits I need. It all looks so fresh, tasty, and is so delicious, like the big juicy strawberries they sell. They also have many organic products for lower prices than what they have them for at my local markets. Now that I am buying at my local farmer’s market, not only have I gotten fresher products, but I have been purchasing more organic foods and I feel great. I’m lovin’ it! ^_^

Today was a bad day, my grandmothers' flight to Los Angeles from Mexico was canceled due to the whole airline issue and that was a big bummer. I was really looking forward to seeing her today. The cancelation of U.S. airline flights did not just affect my family but it is affecting many around the world. People have had to cancel important meetings and rearrange plans they had which consisted of them flying out of town. Society has been left to find other alternatives to navigate out of town if really needed. U.S. airline flights are creating negative economic effects because some airlines have decided to give refunds to people whose flight have been canceled, therefore money is being lost. To top things off my family and I cannot even drive to Mexico because of gas station outages. Just today we had a four hour wait to simply get gas, it was chaos, cars honking everywhere. When it was finally our turn we were only allowed to pump $30 dollars of gas which was not enough for our car that normally fills up with $50 dollars. All of society is greatly struggling, not only are airline flights canceled but gas outages are leaving many with fewer alternatives to move from place to place. The economy is beginning to collapse because gas outages are causing people to not purchase cars as much anymore and instead take public transportation, ride a bike, or simply walk. Joe’s car company at Downtown just closed down last week because people were no longer consuming cars. Now that we have the gas outage I have had to give up spending every weekend going to the mall, ahhh no more window shopping. :( The stores around my house are not as interesting as the mall where I have a variety of stores and products to choose and see from. Now I even have to give up the luxury to be driven to school every day and instead have to walk there. Now I’ll have to wake up half an hour earlier than the usual to have enough time to walk to school and get there on time. How exhausting!
In my house there is enough canned food and water for about a week or so but with the oil shortage I am worried that we may starve to death or get dehydrated. I mean I'm already skinny as it is and without food and water I'm terrified to just think how I’d look. I know I am not the only one worrying about losing our necessities and that there are many others who are going through tougher time. Things just do
n't seem to get any better, I do not have a job which just adds to the 12% of unemployment rate that there already is. Eventually I think the majority of society will be unemployed, society will be offered with very few products to choose from and people will be eating scraps of food found in the trash. In order to use the products my family and I have left, we have decided to prioritize our needs as the most important, staring with water, then food, and clothing. We will only eat two meals a day instead of three and drink four cups of water instead of eight. We are not shortening our family days out to two or three times a month instead of every weekend. Hopefully this oil shortage ends soon! Source:

Class today was very interesting, I learned the meaning of demand and supply and as I can recall, demand is the willingness and ability to buy. Supply on the other hand is the quantity of services and goods that are produced. Both, supply and demand affect the oil crisis, one way or another. Picture this, if people did not demand lingerie then there would be none created, people would just be wearing their clothes over nothing, all natural. I also took a true or false quiz in class at thatquiz.org and sadly to say I got most of them wrong. I mean I would've never thought that the answer to "Each country publishes information about its reserves. This gives us pretty good information about future oil production," would be false instead of right. I mean I would have thought that it was right because in order for the world to know whether we truly running out of oil or not we should have published information regarding the reserves. Don’t you think? Personally I think that this would help us prevent from going any deeper into a world without oil. Source: heatingoil
So So I'm walking down the streets of downtown today, when I come across a crowd that was blocking my path, and all I'm thinking is people are so nosy these days but there you see me trying to see what the fuzz is all about. haha. I manage to make my way through to the front of the crowd to see this man giving some type of oil show. The guy's showing all these different kinds of cosmetics and materials that contain oil and that many use on a daily basis. When I hear the guy say "MAKE UP", I'm like WHATTT, that’s crazy! How can something I use like every day be so nasty? Make up is used almost everywhere, like when shooting a movie, commercials, and going to work; I mean hundreds of movies and shows are created yearly, that's tons of petrochemicals being used. I just don't understand how something so magnificent that is able to cover up blemishes and beauty a girl up be a part of the oil crisis. Now imagine living without make up, how would people really look??? The oil crisis seems to be getting worse every day and make up seems to be decreasing in quantity which is why I have considered tattooing my makeup. No longer will I have to use up any more make up or have to worry about running out of it completely. I haven't made a final decision yet but until then, I will simply use make up twice a week for now.
